Amazing Comeback from Surgery
By Rhonda Morel
After having a complete knee reconstruction and a second major knee surgery, I thought my athletic lifestyle was ruined. In fact, my last orthopedic surgeon told me I would never play a sport that consisted of lateral or jumping movements again. He told me to stick to golf or walking.
I have been involved in sports all my life. In college I earned athletic scholarships and achieved All-American status. Since completing college, there isn't a sport I didn't play.
My last surgery was in April of 1998. I was devastated. I had to quit weight training, and competing in all sports, and I lost all of my range of motion in my knee. I couldn't wear high-heals, or walk down steps or ramps. I had to sleep with pillows supporting my knee, or I would not be able to sleep through the night. All the orthopedists could offer was more medication.
I was very hesitant at first, but having a background in kinesiology myself, BioLogics approach to athletic injuries interested me. Now I cannot believe what happened in only eight visits. I am playing competitive volleyball three nights a week. In fact, I just won the Fountain Valley Grass Open tournament! I no longer have any swelling, pain or limited movement in my knee. I am running again, and am able to fully straighten my leg for the first time in two years!
Keep up the good work, and thanks for giving me my life back!
